Elizabeth Rimmer
Chief Executive Officer
LawCare
Elizabeth Rimmer is the CEO of LawCare, the mental health charity for the UK legal sector. She started her working life as a solicitor specialising in clinical negligence, practicing at Leigh Day. Elizabeth joined LawCare from the Institute of Group Analysis, a membership and training organisation for group psychotherapists. Before that she headed up Alzheimer’s Disease International, a worldwide federation of Alzheimer associations.
She is Co-Chair of the Helplines Partnership (national charity for support and advice services) and a member of the International Bar Association’s Professional Wellbeing Commission and chairs the Commission’s regulatory and ethics committee.

John Hyde

Law Society Gazette
John Hyde is now recognised as one of the leading legal journalists in the country, with a reputation for breaking important stories and standing up for the sector in the face of attacks from other sections of the media.
In the last two years he has won plaudits for his reporting of the Post Office Inquiry, becoming an authority on the scandal and the role of lawyers.
John has hosted numerous events and conferences and been a regular contributor on the BBC, as well as writing articles for the Independent and politics.co.uk.

Mark Evans
Vice-President
The Law Society of England & Wales
Mark Evans is the Vice President of the Law Society of England and Wales, which is currently celebrating its bicentennial year. He represents North Wales. He will be president in October 2025.

Mark practised property and private client law for more than 28 years. He worked in North Wales and Chester. ​
Currently, he teaches various courses on real estate, private client and professional skills at the University of Law.​
Mark was a member of the Law Society Wales Committee for nine years and acted as chair for four of those years.

Dr Bronwen Williams JP MStJ
Academic Director for Law, Criminology & Policing
University Wales Trinity Saint David
Bronwen Williams JP MStJ has worked in higher education for 17 years; she is currently the Academic Director for Law, Criminology and Policing at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Bronwen is a magistrate for the West Glamorgan Bench and a member of the Magistrates' Association.​​
Bronwen works with many external agencies linked to these subject areas to design and develop programmes to help prepare students for the workplace. She has been working with the Law Society to bring Legal
Apprenticeships to Wales for over 10 years and is now part of a campaign to secure funded Level 7 Legal Apprenticeships in Wales.

Huw Williams
Chief Legal Adviser
Senedd Cymru
After sending his early career in local government, Huw was a partner at Geldards LLP for over 30 years, where he was the Lead Partner (Public Law) and Senior Partner in the firm’s Cardiff office. He has been the Chief Legal Adviser to the Senedd since 2019.
Huw is a past Chair of Legal Wales and of Public Law Wales, and the Conference Programme Director for the prestigious Legal Wales Conference. He was a longstanding member of the Law Society’s Planning and Environment Law Committee and the Wales Committee and was an inaugural member of the Law Society's National Board for Wales.
Huw’s other external roles have included serving as a Trustee of both the National Museum of Wales and of the National Library of Wales, and the Company Secretary of the Wales Millennium Centre.

Bernie Davies

Bernie Davies is an influential entrepreneur, author and DEI champion based in Wales since 2006, with a remarkable legacy of service, advocacy, and leadership. Known for her compassion, resilience, and commitment to justice, Bernie has transformed Wales’s DEI landscape through her initiatives, mentorship, and dedication to community empowerment.
As a groundbreaking, award winning figure -whether heading legal teams, contributing to policy and governance as a NED, or spearheading Mastering Diversity Conferences and Awards - Bernie is a unifying force for positive change. Her daily work includes training, public speaking, and bridging communities, and her visionary leadership continues to inspire diverse sectors across Wales and beyond.

Toby Brown
Chair of the steering group of the Attorney General's
Pro Bono Committee of England and Wales
Toby Brown practices at the Bar in London in commercial litigation and related fields, and is recognised by Legal 500 as a Tier 1 leading barrister. Since 2008 he has assisted or led various pro bono initiatives in the UK, including for the past 6 years chairing the organising committee for the UK's Pro Bono Week. Toby was recently appointed Chair of the steering group of the Attorney General's Pro Bono Committee of England and Wales, which brings together representatives of the pro bono sector to assist collaboration across the jurisdiction.

Colin Carr

Colin is Director of Business Development at KE Costs Lawyers; he has a wealth of business development experience, the diversity of which means he brings first-hand knowledge and understanding of the day-to-day issues and problems which a law practice faces to the clients of KE Costs Lawyers.
He has twenty-seven years’ experience in the legal sector, with ten years’ experience in the world of Legal Costs. This experience allows him to provide advice and assistance in most areas affecting legal practitioners on Legal Costs, funding and ATE insurance.
With an innovative; creative; proactive and successful “can-do” attitude, Colin demonstrates a consistent win-win ethos, whist carefully understanding the needs of KE Costs’ clients and the ever-changing needs of the business.

Kirsty Pappin

Kirsty is a seasoned operations leader and award-winning legal practice manager with over 20 years of experience in the legal industry, having worked across both UK and US firms. This diverse background has equipped her with unique insights into law firm operations, enabling her to assist SME firms in enhancing efficiency and embracing innovation.
In 2023, Kirsty founded Aries Legal Practice Management, a consultancy dedicated to supporting law firms in various aspects of business and operations, tailored to meet the specific needs of law firms.

Tim Barnett

Since becoming CEO of Credas in 2021, Tim has transformed the business, overseeing the development of Credas brand new enterprise platform and recent acquisition by Dye & Durham, a global legal technology group. In addition to his role at Credas, Tim also works as an advisory board member to FinTech Wales and is involved in various property industry groups. In 2022, Credas became one of the first ID verification providers to be certified against the UK Government’s Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework (DIATF) and the company continues to work with various government agencies to develop the future of digital identity in the UK. Through its marketing leading position within the property sector it is estimated that 1 in 3 property transactions involves a Credas ID check and last year processed more than 3 million ID checks a year.

Gus Williams
Chief Executive

Gus Williams is currently serving as Chief Executive of Chambers Wales South East, South West, and Mid, and plays a pivotal role in driving economic growth and fostering business connectivity across Wales. His strategic vision supports the Chamber’s mission to inform, promote, and connect businesses in an increasingly dynamic marketplace. Before joining Chambers Wales in October 2024, Gus has held several senior leadership roles in financial services, including Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Head of Risk, Governance, and Compliance. In addition to his professional commitments, Gus is passionate about social impact. He serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for Autistic Minds UK, where he champions economic empowerment and inclusion for neurodivergent individuals.

Amy is also the host of the Empowering Law Firm leaders podcast, where she interviews legal sector experts and leaders to discover the insights and best practices to help firms thrive in a competitive landscape.

Suzy McGarrity
Engagement & Training Officer
LawWorks Cymru
& Secretariat, Pro Bono Committee for Wales
Suzy McGarrity works for LawWorks Cymru, part of the Solicitors Pro Bono Group, working to encourage pro bono volunteering amongst the legal profession and develop sustainable and effective pro bono projects. As such she is also part of the secretariat for the Pro Bono Committee for Wales.
Alongside her work with LawWorks, Suzy also coordinates the Cardiff University / Asylum Justice Fresh Claims Project. Suzy's background is in third sector advice and she is also currently studying towards her CILEX qualifications.
